William Gregory was born in 1962, and was
raised in Southern California. His fascination with photography began at an
early age when he used his first camera to create expressive portraits of family
and friends.
The word
photography means, “to paint with light”. William was immediately drawn
to the medium as a means of personal and contemplative, visual expression. The quiet and subtle beauty of early morning and evening light,
illuminate his subjects and stir his imagination with visual creativity.
William refined his split-filter, and platinum printing techniques at the Center for Creative Photography, and has studied with master printmakers including Robert Hansen, Dan Burkholder, and Ray McSavaney.
William's prints produce intensely detailed images, revealing intricate forms with changing textures, and subtle plays of light. His large negatives render incredible sharpness, vivid detail, and abound with a deep, rich tonal scale.
Today, William resides in historic San Juan Capistrano, California with his wife and three daughters. He continues to work and create expressive photography in his custom studio and darkroom. William 's photographs include exhibits at the world famous Festival of Arts-Pageant of the Masters in Laguna Beach, California, and the Seaside Gallery in Dana Point. His prints are featured in both private and corporate collections in the United States and Europe, and a number of online venues, stores, galleries, and magazines.
